March 29th Newsletter

Hello St Leo Community.

 

Congratulations to St. Leo’s Co-Ed Ice Hockey team.  They did very well on Tuesday and will be advancing to the next round!  Go Lions Go!

 

Best wishes to the Junior Boys and Junior Girls volleyball teams who will be playing in tournaments this week on Wednesday April 3rd (boys) and Thursday April 4th (girls).  Go Lions Go!

 

Below are all the updates you need for the coming weeks:

  1. St. Leo will be celebrating World Autism Awareness Day on Tuesday, April 2nd with an assembly at 1:00 p.m. in the gym.  Parents are welcome to attend!  Students are invited to wear any shade of blue on the day of the assembly and every Friday in April. 

  2. The next Caribou Math contest will be held on Wednesday April 3rd.  Participants should be at the school for 7:45 a.m.  Thanks to Ms. Figueiredo who organizes all of the math contest participation and practices throughout the year.

  3. April’s CSPC meeting will take place on April 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in the staff room.  I think we can safely assume there will be no snowstorm to get in our way this month! 

  4. This year, ShareLife Week will be celebrated during the week of April 8th. St. Leo will be participating in the Board wide civvies day on April 12th. Please send in your toonie donation or (preferably) submit your donation online through KEV School Cash Online.

  5. During the week of April 8th St Leo will be hosting X Movement – a program combining Mindfulness, High Intensity Fitness, Executive Management, Feelings and Decisions, and Self-Regulation.  The X Movement team will be working with students on April 8th, 9th and 10th.  The X Movement community event for parents and students together will take place on Wednesday, April 10th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the school gym.

  6. April 10th marks the International Day of Pink. This is a day where communities across the country and around the world unite in celebrating all manner of diversity and raising awareness to stop all forms of bullying.  Wear pink on April 10th to show your support.

  7. The closing date to register your child for either First Holy Communion or Confirmation is Friday April 5that noon.  You must register your child in person at the St Leo Church parish office.

  8. Parents of participating First Holy Communion and Confirmation children must attend one mandatory instruction session given at the church.  The following are dates for instruction from which you can pick:

    • Monday April 1st at 7:30 p.m. (in the church)

    • Tuesday April 2nd at 7:30 p.m. (in the church)

    • Saturday April 6th at 1:00 p.m. (in the church)

  9. Grade 7 Confirmation will be held on Sunday April 28th at 4:00 p.m.

  10. Grade 2 First Holy Communion will be held on Sunday May 5th at 4:00 p.m.

  11. The dates for Grade 3 and Grade 6 EQAO testing this year is the week of May 27th.  Please keep this in mind and refrain from booking appointments for your child/ren between May 27th and May 31st.  If you would like more information about EQAO testing, please visit the EQAO website at www.EQAO.com

Reminders in case you missed them the first time:

  1. The Annual St Leo Silent Auction and Parent night is on Friday April 26th at 7:30 p.m. at the Maple Leaf on Lakeshore.  You can purchase your tickets through KEV School Cash Online or by sending the attached form back to school with your child.  Thanks to everyone who has agreed to volunteered to make this another great auction.  If you have goods that you would like to donate for the auction or would like to volunteer – please respond to this email.
