November 9 Newsletter

Hello St Leo Community!

Another word about parking.  Please be aware that during the day, the north parking lot is for teachers and TCDSB staff only.  It’s not for parents or even parent volunteers.  During drop-off, please do not use this lot.  Even for a quick run in and run out.   Please park elsewhere.

Below are all the updates you need for the coming weeks:

  1. As you know the Marlies fundraiser is on.  The game is on Dec 2nd and tickets are on sale now for $25.  Tickets can be purchased through cash on-line (www.schoolcashonline.com), or you can send cash or a cheque to the school with your child.  Please write cheques to St. Leo CSPC.
    New information:

    • To raise excitement for the Marlies game, Thursday November 15th is Jersey Day at St Leo.  Wear your favourite team Jersey – hockey, basketball, little league baseball – whatever team jersey makes you happy – wear it to school on Thursday.

    • The class selling the most tickets will win an ice cream sundae party.

    • All ticket orders received on or by November 15th will be considered for the ice cream sundae party – so get your orders in this week.

    • Marlies tickets will be on sale during the evening of November 15th during parent teacher interviews.

    • This week the Marlies sweetened the pot by offering the top 20 ticket sellers a spot in the fan tunnel to high five the players going on the ice.

    • This event is a great fundraiser for the school and community event for us all.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

  2. The TCDSB is having a French as a Second Language (FSL) Parent Outreach event for K-12. The goal of the event is to promote and establish a strong parent, school and French community connection.  See attachment.  All are welcome on Saturday, November 24th, 2018 from 10 am -2 pm at the TCDSB Board offices at 80 Sheppard Ave East.

  3. Our community partner Royal York Football Club would like parents to know that their House League starts on November 18th and runs to April 24th on the Lakeshore Turf Field (bubble behind Lakeshore Collegiate).  Find out more at ROYALYORKFC.com.  See attachment.

  4. On Monday December 10th St Leo will host a special presentation on Internet Awareness and Safety.  See attachment.  Students will receive a presentation during the day and Parents/Guardians are invited to attend a presentation for parents and care givers in the evening at 6:30 pm in the school gym.  The presenter, Paul Davis is a well-known expert in the area of cyber bullying and internet safety.  His message is direct, poignant and very important for students and parents alike.  Please put this date into your calendar.
