St Leo weekly Newsletter- Week ending October 28th

Hello St Leo Community!

Congratulations to our young cross country runners – Joseph and Fintan – who participated in this week’s city championships.  You made St Leo’s very proud!!

Below are all the updates you need for this week:

  1. Dental Screening takes place on October 30th, November 1st and 2nd.  Please send an email to Mrs. Ugrin if you do not wish your child to participate in the Dental screening provided by Toronto Public Health.  Thank you to those who have already informed the school if this is the case.
  2. Students are allowed to wear costumes on Halloween Day but must come to school in costume as they will not have the opportunity to change once at school.  No masks or props (weapons, wands, broom sticks, etc.) are allowed.  Costumes must be Catholic School appropriate and also must not be threatening for younger children.  As we are an allergen aware school, please do not send FOOD TREATS for your child to share at the Halloween class party.  There are many alternatives, such as pencils, small toys and stickers.
  3. The intermediate boys’ volleyball team has an exhibition game against St. Elizabeth this Wednesday, November 1st.  Go Lions!
  4. The November CSPC meeting will take place on November 1st at 6:30 pm in the Library.  All are welcome.
  5. Very important date for Grade 8 students – High School Applications are due to the office NO LATER THAN 9:00 am Friday November 3, 2017.
  6. Mass will be held on Friday November 3rd at 1:00 pm with Father Frank and Father Galea.  All are welcome.
  7. The intermediate volleyball tournaments will be held on November 7th (boys) and 8th (girls).
  8. School photo RETAKE day is Thursday November 16th.
  9. A reminder that the Grade 8s will be holding their cookie fundraiser every Friday for their year-end overnight trip.  Students may bring in $2 to purchase a cookie. All proceeds will go towards the Grade 8 trip to Ottawa.

As always feel free to contact me if ever you have concerns … or just want to share some great ideas … and don’t forget to check out our website at and follow us on twitter @stleosfun

Have a great week!

Cheers, Fiona
