Weekly Newsletter May 1st

Greetings St. Leo Community.  Hoping it was a great weekend for all.

The news is official!  St. Leo is getting a new school.
The Minister of Education, Liz Sandals, made the exciting announcement at St. Leo CS this past Tuesday!
In addition to the 500 student capacity, the  building will also include a child care facility for 49 children.  We do not have any details at this time regarding any kind of timing but will be sure to keep you posted as we receive details!
We are grateful to our Catholic School Parent Council and our School Accommodation Review Committee for ALL their work advocating for a new school building. Throughout the last year, starting in September 2014, they tirelessly championed our case at the Board level and at the S A R C meetings.  Congratulations to everyone!!!!!

This week is Education Week: May 1 to May 7

Thank you to Carey Burleigh, Nicole Chin Smith and Jackie McGrath for planting with the students of Ms Policelli, Ms Arbour and Ms Mullin.  The gardens look great!  Teachers with a planter garden - remember to keep them moist but not soaking!  Keep an eye out for little seedlings!

Looking for parent volunteers on Wednesday morning to help with the POD planting and our student ambassadors.  As you know the harvest from these pods will go to help the food insecure in our community.  Any and all help with watering is appreciated.  Please respond to this email if you are interested in this great way to set an example for our children of what it means to contribute.

We are looking for parent volunteers to help with the Faith Conference this Friday May 6 from 8:30am-1pm, to assist with preparing the morning snack, serving lunch and clean up.  It is a truly beautiful, spirit filled day and an absolute joy to witness.  Please respond to Ms LeHane or Ms Starr or this email if you are interested in helping.

All the best to our Grade 7 and Grade 8 at the Invictus Games at the Mattamy Centre this Monday, at RIM Technologies in Kitchener on Tuesday and at the Instrumental Music Band at the WoodBine Festival on Wednesday! A busy and enriched week for our Senior Students!

A huge shoutout to our Community Sponsors of the week Venus Victoria and Lakeside Pharmacy!  Please be sure to support them as they have so generously supported us.  Don't forget to tell them you saw their name mentioned in our newsletter!
