January 27th is Literacy Day.  We are looking for parents to read to the children on this day.  Scheduling is flexible.   Please respond to this email with your time preference and what class you would like to read to!

Gr 2 First Holy Communion and Gr 7/8 Confirmation packages were sent home this week.  Please be sure that you have received them as they contain very important information for your child to complete these sacraments.  Please contact Francis at the Parish Rectory or Father Frank directly if you have any questions or concerns.

SARC representatives will be delegating to the TCDSB Trustees re: the importance of a new school for St. Leo on January 27th at the Catholic Education Centre.  This is the final opportunity for us to plead our case and the greater the presence from the school, the better!  Please come and support if you are able.  A new school is possible but we need your support!

Congratulations to the St. Leo Children's Choir for their beautiful singing at today's 10:00a.m. Mass.  Reminder that Catechism for children 3-7 is offered at this Mass.  It was lovely to see our grade 7 and 8 students representing the school so well as hospitality greeters and gift bearers!

The Spring Fling is tentatively scheduled for June 9th this year.  As some of our usual Spring Fling parents had children who graduated or have moved since last year, we are in desperate need of new parents to commit to volunteering.  We must have parent volunteers if the Spring Fling is going to happen this year.  There are so many ways to help that will work with your schedule and availability.

We are looking for parent volunteers to assist with serving pancakes at the French Cafe (located in our school gym:)  for ourSchool Carnivale celebration on February 9th between the hours of 9:30a.m. and 11:30a.m.

I am aiming to make the website a helpful tool for all.  Teachers and parents please let me know if you think a teacher page would be useful on the school website where teachers can post important information.

Reminder that Swim Team practices are Friday mornings at 7:15a.m. and Saturdays at 4:15p.m. at Alderwood Pool.  If your child can swim this is an amazing opportunity at a very low cost for them to get excellent swimming instruction, learn what it means to be a team player and represent their school at the TCDSB meet!

Ms Lehane's class have started collecting milk bags for the purpose of making mats for people in third world countries without beds, an invaluable, durable and washable alternative to sleeping on the often cold and damp ground. They provide comfort as a bedding alternative, but have been used by health-care professionals as a make-ready substitute for an operating bed/table where resources are scarce. It takes approximately 400 milk bags to make an adult sized mat.  (The bag that holds the 3 bags of milk)  We are looking for volunteers to help in knitting these bags together with the students as well as donations of the bags themselves.  Please contact this email or michelle.lehane@tcdsb.org if you are able to help.

Reminder pizza day is this Wednesday.

Caribou Math is this Wednesday morning at 7:30a.m. at the School.  Please arrive promptly to participate.

Ms Figueredo, Ms LeHane and Mr Sarabia's classes will be skating on Monday.  Ms Policelli and Mr Punter's classes will be skating on Friday.  Please consider purchasing skates and a helmet for your child if you have not already done so and be sure that your child brings this equipment with them on their scheduled day.

Shout out to our sponsor of the week Kothur Indian Cuisine.  Located right on the Lakeshore they truly do have exceptional food!  Check them out and remember to tell them you are from St. Leo!
