CSPC Weekly Newsletter September 27th, 2015

Greetings parents and teachers!  We begin another great week at St. Leo with the super moon lunar eclipse tonight. (next time you'll see it is 2033) If you feel like getting up in the middle of the night, it should reach it's peak around 3:30a.m.  If you can't get back to sleep, why not check out our website at http://www.stleoparentcouncil.org or follow us on twitter @stleosfun?

I am thrilled and honoured to come back to serve you for another year as Chair of the Parent Council.  Congratulations and thanks to our 2015/16 Vice Chair - Carey Burleigh, Treasurer - Michael Bock and Secretary - Fiona Kerr.  Council Parent Reps are Jackie McGrath, Tania Cantlon, Lucy Dorgan, Ortenca Binjaku and Berranu Zeru.    We are here to represent you and to aid in any communication, questions, concerns or ideas that you may have to make St. Leo CS the best that it can be.  On behalf of the entire Council we look forward to another great year!

St. Leo Cleanup Drive will be held on Oct 19th.  Forms were sent home in your child's backpack.  (Please let me know if you need additional forms).  Fundraising is the responsibility of the entire school as each of our children benefit in a huge way from dollars raised.  We have set a goal of $20.00 per child. (That's only 10 people at a toonie each!!!)  Most people are very receptive to the idea of our young children taking responsibility for the environment and working to be a part of positive change at our school!

A huge thank you to Carey Burleigh for her beautiful and tireless work on the Learning Garden bunker!

Good luck to our girls and boys softball team as they compete on Monday and Tuesday.

"Deep in the heart of the Mimico Jungle you can hear the Lions rumble…"  Go Lions!!!!

Keep up the good training to all of our Cross Country athletes.  Well done!

Reminder that Ms Campeau has set up a weekly blog at http://kindergartenteacher-posts.tumblr.com  No photos of the children are posted but check in to see what is going on in class.

Ms Figueredo will be co-ordinating the Caribou and Gauss Math competition organized by Brock University.  This is open to all students from grades 3-8.  The first competition is at the school on Oct 14th. Students must be at the school at 7:30a.m. to fully participate.  Reminder the forms for participation are due by Monday, October 5th.

The monthly Virtue Awards and Assembly will take place on Wednesday, September 30th.

Reminder that pizza day forms are due.

The formal Learning Garden Unveiling Celebration will take place on October 21st.  If you have any mums or fall plants that you are willing to loan us for the day that would be hugely appreciated.  We are also seeking a donation of baked goods for the coffee/tea reception afterwards.

As part of our 20/20 vision to offer hot lunches to our students, pasta lunch will be offered soon.

Parent volunteers in serving appreciated!  Forms to follow soon.

Reminder also that Nurtrition program donations can be made via credit card.  Please contact me if you are interested in paying by this method.

Have a wonderful week everyone!  As always if you have any questions, concerns or ideas how to make our school even more amazing do not hesitate to contact me.

Warmest Regards,
